WHAT IS THE SACRAMENT OF MATRIMONY?
The Sacrament of Matrimony involves two baptized people, one or both of whom are Catholic, becoming husband and wife through a sacred covenant with God and each other.
Marriage between two baptized persons is a sacrament, meaning that the couple’s relationship expresses in a unique way the unbreakable bond of love between Christ and his people.
Our Parish currently requires a minimum of six months of preparation for the Sacrament of Matrimony. We encourage you to consider beginning the process a year or more before your anticipated wedding date.
A special process of preparation is done prior to the marriage. Click here for more information.
The effect of Matrimony is a special grace intended to perfect the couple’s love and to strengthen their indissoluble unity. By this grace they “help one another to attain holiness in their married life and in welcoming and educating their children”.
